The Jr. Boys Sting Volleyball team from Fort Saskatchewan High was laid low during their tournament at St. Andre Bessette on Saturday.

“We could always be better, but we’re working on our game,” said Coach Joel Percy

The Sting opened the tournament by facing off against their rivals, St. André Bessette Cardinals, in the first round. The Cardinals defeated them 25-9 and 25-14.

The next set saw the Sting face off against Memorial High, and the first set was a close one with Memorial defeating the sting 26-24. They then crushed the sting in the second set 25-10.

The Sting then took on Bev Facey and lost 25-7 and 25-10, leading the Sting once more to play against the Cardinals in the consolation Finals for third place.

The Jr. Boys play in Division 3 of Pool A in the Metro Athletics league. While the Jr. Boys finished the regular season 0-6 coach Percy said they showed marked improvement throughout the season with next year bringing even a stronger team on to the court.

The St. Andre Bessette Cardinals also had trouble this year only putting one win on the board throughout the season. In the playoffs St. Andre Bessette was knocked out in the first round by Louis St. Laurent, while the Sting were also knocked out by Lillian Osborne.
