A Sarnia man has been charged with second-degree murder in the weekend death of Luis Enrique Hernandez..

Timothy James Noj, 32, was arrested at a local motel shortly before 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Sarnia police said.

A bail hearing was expected for Wednesday.

Hernandez, 26, was taken to hospital Saturday evening, where he was later pronounced dead.

Hernandez and Noj were known to each other, Sarnia police Const. Giovanni Sottosanti said.

Whether a weapon was involved was not being disclosed Tuesday, Sottosanti added.

The investigation is ongoing, he said.

“We were able to gather enough evidence to request a warrant and arrest the individual for the crime,” the officer said.

The yard around unit 19 at 914 Confederation St. Saturday evening was cordoned off as police canvassed the south-end Sarnia neighbourhood.

Neighbours reported being asked by police whether they heard gunshots, saw anyone fleeing or if they had security cameras.

Police were still holding and “processing” the scene on Monday.

Police Tuesday thanked the public for their assistance and patience, and requested anyone with information to call police at 519-344-8861 ext. 5300, or Sarnia Lambton Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
