A cyclist was sent to hospital with serious injuries following a collision on Perth Line 43, east of Amurlee, in Perth East Monday evening, Perth County OPP say.

According to police, OPP officers, Perth East firefighters and Perth County paramedics rushed to the collision between a motor vehicle and a cyclist, both travelling west, at 6:30 p.m. Monday after the vehicle’s driver allegedly attempted to pass the cyclist but did not leave enough room.

While the driver, a 42-year-old Perth South man, was not injured, police charged him with failing to leave one metre while passing a bicycle.

Police are reminding drivers that under the Highway Traffic Act they must leave a distance of no less than on metre between a bicycle and their vehicle while passing.
