The Perth County OPP seized roughly $28,000 in methamphetamine and cocaine following an Oct. 19 RIDE stop in Palmerston.

According to a police press release sent out Wednesday, Perth, Huron and Wellington County OPP were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere check at around 10:30 p.m. when officers allegedly saw drug paraphernalia in a vehicle and conducted a traffic stop.

After a search, police allege the driver, a 41-year-old Palmerston man, was in possession of a controlled substance. Police charged him with possession of methamphetamine and cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a prohibited device – brass knuckles – and possession of an imitation weapon for dangerous purposes.

The driver was then held for a bail hearing in London court.

On Oct. 26, OPP officers conducted a search warrant based on property seized during the traffic stop, resulting in the further seizure of methamphetamine, cocaine, and additional drug trafficking paraphernalia.
