North Perth resident charged with firearms, assault offences following domestic incident

A North Perth resident is facing assault, weapons and drug charges following a domestic assault in Listowel Sunday night, Perth County OPP say.

Perth County OPP have charged a 31-year-old North Perth resident with assault, firearms and drug-possession offences following a domestic assault in Listowel over the weekend.

Provincial police said officers responded just after 11:30 p.m. Sunday to a report of an assault in Listowel. Police learned the suspect had allegedly uttered death threats and had been in possession of a gun.

On Monday, the OPP’s Huron-Perth community street crime unit and Perth County OPP conducted a search for additional evidence at a home on Elizabeth Street East in Listowel, during which they allegedly found methamphetamine.

As a result, police charged the North Perth resident with uttering death threats, spousal assault, pointing a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm and possession of methamphetamine, and held the accused in custody pending bail.
