Lactalis buys yogurt brands
Lactalis Canada, a subsidiary of Lactalis Group, recently announced that it has reached a definitive agreement with Agropur Cooperative to acquire all shares of its Canadian yogourt business, Ultima Foods Inc., including the Iögo and Iögo Nanö yogourt brands, as well as the Olympic yogourt, sour cream and kefir brand.
VFO’s regulations amended to include veal cattle sold in sales barns
Veal Farmers of Ontario (VFO) announces that amendments to the VFO regulations that update the definitions of veal cattle and now include the collection of licence fees on veal cattle sold in sales barns will come into effect on January 1st, 2021.

Heinz plant to reopen in Leamington
The new multi-year deal will employ about 600 workers and produce $1 billion worth of products Highbury Canco has renewed its deal to produce Kraft Heinz products at the plant in Leamington that Kraft shut down. A management team took over with help from Kraft and has rebuilt the business to employ about 600 workers. The new multi-year deal is for about $1 billion worth of products at retail prices. Canco lobbied hard to persuade the provincial government to change relationships with the processing vegetables marketing board.
